Well, it’s almost the end of the quarter and in today’s class we had an opportunity to talk with each other for a little bit. Then, Mr. Moss wrote on the board the things that we learned in this class. We learned to analyze a project and initiate investigative research by doing the CSULA project posters and analyzing the ideas about was successful and what was not about each one’s posters. We learned to Develop sources and inspiration for ideas by playing games and the experienced of playing them. Also, the TED videos were inspiring. We learned to articulate visual concepts with informative and accurate sketches by learning from each other and getting feedback. We just have an example of the style boards that communicate tone and personality for a design. The style boards are a collection of pictures that communicate mood and tone. We learned to generate many different ideas quickly by doing the 30 sketches and many more. Finally, we learned to develop appropriate ideas for experimental, editorial, corporate, entertainment applications, and write a creative brief. We actually did our own creative brief. What I learned in this class was to communicate more visually and develop my ideas further and do more sketching. This class Concept development as Mr. Moss described is a course of creative process, self analyzes, structure, and divergent thinking.

Week 10 Monday's class
In today's class we did presentations and storytelling.Jimmy asked us to present and tell three things about us Two of them have to be true and one not.Every one of us had a chance to present and we gave each other feedback about our presentations. Some people were comfortable talking infront of a audience and some were not. Some of us talk fast, fold arms, move a lot, put hands on the face, and not a lot eye contact. Also,we learned that presentation is a good part of design.A good presenter have to engage his audience, they have to be good at explaining ,be comfortable infront of an audience, look at people's eyes, and use hand gestures.Overall we learned that we can read people by their body language.

Week 9 Monday's class
In toda's class we looked at our posters and creative briefs and we voted on them. There were some good concepts but overall it seems that must of us like the evolution poster .I thought the evolution poster was a great concept because it communicates well and it was well thought out. Then, Mr moss told us a story and we closed our eyes and imagined the story and then he said inside of a cave there is a door with your name you open it and then he stopped right there. Then, he told us tell me what you saw and we drew it.I saw paintings on a wall and it was dark inside with a little bit of light. On the floor there were leaves and grass.Finally,Mr.Moss talked about our final project and I'm looking foward to do my best.I like this word this phrase that Mr,Moss told us " Be awasome, believe in what are you doing".

Week 8 Wednesday's class
Today we learned about research and creative brief. In order to start a new project you have to do research.when doing a new project always ask questions to your client. When you ask questions to your client that makes them feel as part of the process.Ask them as much questions as you can to help you on your creative process also you need to have in mind about what message they want the audience to get. When doing research take on consideration your audience, age, gender, location, competition etc.Creative brief is just a summary of the project. For example:It explains the objective, the target audience, the primary message, content etc. Finally, for our homework we have to do a one page creative brief about our posters.

week 8 Monday's class
In today's class we sat down by our first letter of our name and we did this to see thing from a different perspective. Also we learned that won't be able to grow if you get out of your comfort zone and try new things. Then we talekd about What's the one think we learned from Kim Baer?We learned about sketches or tumbnails because when you do this you are presenting just an idea not the end result.we learned about doing research. Also, do something different so that you don't get bored;Be playful with your ideas have fun. Also we learned about idea vs execution.First a concept is an idea rough sketches and the finally result the execution the actual finish poster or product. Also we looked at our posters sketches and we had an opportunity to vote. There were some good ideas as well as bad and finally for our homework we have to do3 really good ideas on posters about studying graphing design here at CSULA.

Week 7 Monday's class
Today’s class was fun; we did an exercise that involved communication and focus. Basically we have 2 objects one was a who and the other one was a what. So, the exercise started like this the leader introduced the object to the person next to it. So it goes this is a what and the person ask a what? And the leader says a what and the other says oh a what and introduced the object to the person next to it and they repeat the same thing and it keeps going back to the leader that started the game and the leader says yes is a what so again it goes back is a what and so on and so forth the same happen with the who. We couldn’t finish all the way through because it was confusing and it was more confusing when you have the two objects. I think this exercise taught us communication and how to be focus because if you were not focus you messed the whole exercise and we had to start all over again. After, we had an opportunity to share our autobiographies and it was interesting to look at them. Some did collages and some write and some paint. Finally, our homework is to create sketches for a poster that persuade students to study graphic design here at CSULA.

Unclear and confusing
Time of class
My favorite thing og the class has to be finfing adjectives and my least favorite is tha apple because its a little bit tired doing it every day. After we watched videos and I particularly liked the video about Jhon Maeda he talked about simplicity and complexity. He gave an example about simplicity and complexity. He compare a small cookie and a big cookie vs a big laundry load and a small laundry load.On the example of the cookie one will choose the bigger cookie because is more enjoyment and less pain that is simplicity. On the example of laundry load one will choose the smaller because we like less work. Also,I like his video because he create new ideas about anything for example he made designs out french fries. Also he likes doing complex desings so I got insipired and I post some abstarct designs because they are complex.

Week 6 Monday's class
In today’s class we talked about how to present our ideas. We learned that first you have to understand your audience. Also we learned how to critic constructively. Sometimes critics make us defensive, but we have to take critics as a learning process improve and get better qt what we are doing. When you are presenting your ideas you have a goal that is about pleasing your audience. Your audience has to understand your concept and belie and be convinced because they are investing it on. A designer works together with a client to influence or get a result on the audience and sell a product. Some things not to do when you are presenting your ideas are don’t make personal preferences such as my favorite color is pink that’s why I choose it. If you are going to use a personal preference use a logical response with it. One example that Mr. Moss gave us was I choose blue because stands out from the yellow and the green. Things you should take on consideration when you are presenting your ideas to a client. Present 3 completely different ideas that you thing are really good. Define what are you doing and how is going to be experience it. Take feedback from others to improve your work. After, everyone had a chance to explain their ideas of their game. We had to pick an audience to start doing a game for them. We had a great experience doing this because our classmates took a role as our clients meanwhile each of us presented our ideas. We learned what not to do and what to do and how to communicate our ideas to be understood when we present to a client.

Week 5 Wednesday's class
Today at class we looked at our homework and it was very interesting to see the different approaches that people did to express the experience they had in the game. Also, we watched interesting videos. We watched one about the Eames brothers. They do a lot of stuff, they film movies, design furniture etc. I like this phrase that I got from the video “Design is a life skill not a professional skill”. The second video was called 2 by 4 and was a bout graphic design. Also, talked about how technology works with design. I like something that Jimmy said become experts with your tools. If you are struggling with your tools you won’t be able to create a great design. The next video was about Elizabeth Ghilbert and it was called a new way to think about creativity. She talked about creativity and how before the Greeks and Romans thought that creativity was given to them by a divine force. She thinks that creativity are in human in begins. She made an interesting point when you are doing something sometimes you don’t know what to do so the best thing to do is Don’t be afraid just do your job and keeping showing up don’t give up. The last video was about Tony Robbins one question that he asked that caught my attention was why you don’t achieve something? Don’t have money, time, technology, or missing resources. All of these are excuses and he said that what it really you need is to have decision to accomplish your goal. “Give you all don’t stop”.

Week 5 Monday's class
Today was such a fun day because we played games. Everyone brought a game to class and everyone picked the game they wanted to play and started playing. I decided to play Loteria with some of my classmates. Each of us had a card with different pictures and someone yelled the names of the cards and the goal of the game was to fill the entire card and yelled Loteria. Then, we played Dominoes and we made up our own rules about how to play Mexican Train. Basically, in the middle you put the dominoes that have the highest number and from there you match the numbers and we started putting dominoes in to other competent lines until we don’t have any dominoes and made a train Then, we played Loteria with our classmates that were next to us. We played 4 in a row Loteria, Dominoes train and Double cards Loteria. I think today was a fun day because we had the opportunity to share with our classmates and known them a little bit better. Overall, we had a blast!!!!

week 4 Wednesday's class
Today, in class we watched two films one was called Powers of Ten it was about relative size things, distance from earth to the universe and how big and small things are. First, it stared in this scene about a picnic then it started zooming out and then you start seeing the city it becoming smaller, then you saw the clouds, the earth, the planets, the stars, galaxies etc…Then, it started zooming in into a man’s hand and you start seeing the surface of the hand, skin layers, red blood cells, white cells, DNA, modules, and, nucleus. It was an interesting film because it showed the earth, the space, the city from an aerial perspective. Also, it showed al the layers in our hands. Before, the second film started Jimmy asked us why man creates. Man creates to use things in daily life, utility, for pleasure, self-expression, to escape, to explore, to communicate etc…I never thought about that question before and make me think about it. I also thought that we don’t pay too much attention of asking why things are the way they are. The second film was called why man creates? It started as a series of steps from 1 to 7.1.The edifice: it was about what people have invented such the train, light, music, dynamite.2: Fooling around: playing, having fun starting doodling.3: The process: Coming with ideas of nowhere maybe by accident, start developing ideas and convert them into something.4.The Judgment: Society making contribution.5: A parable and 6.A digression.7.The search: work in progress on new ideas. Do research to come up with an idea that gives possible results. Over all, it was a learning experience for all of us. After, we did our story telling with our pictures and it was fun seeing what people come up with. Today it was fun and also I got a little bit scared when jimmy talked about expressing our age with Binary numbers because I’m not good at math at all. In fact, I didn’t know what Binary numbers were.

Week 4 Monday's class
Today was like last class we sat down in groups and share our thoughts about our pictures and we had the opportunity to listen to other people. Well in my group there was a picture of a dog and the phrase True love and the response that we got was ohh cute! Also, there was this picture about a hand with paint and the phrase Biblical creation and when I saw this picture I thought god’s hand that created everything Also a picture of a cute baby ,a skinny cow and the phrase was Got Milk?.I thought was very funny when he showed the image of the skinny cow with the phrase Got Milk? Because it made me think about how skinny cows could possibly have milk. After, we did an exercise about telling a story with objects. We gathered around in groups and we started getting objects and developing a story. It was hard coming with a story because we had to incorporate the object in the story. Well in the end there were good stories and bad ones. The one I remembered was the one that cell phones came to life and I guess this girl answered her phone and her cell phone was the one talking. Finally, we got homework; we have to get 3 pictures and tell story. Well, I hope we do a great job telling our story.

Week 3 Wednesday's class
In today’s class we do a big group and all of us had a chance to talk about our adjectives. I remembered the picture of the lips and this phrase Lip injection. After, hearing this Mr. Moss asked to the class about another phrase for this picture someone said Give grandma a big kiss and I thought it was very funny. I think all of us had a hard time coming with adjectives and phrases. I had a hard time coming with adjectives and phases that change the meaning of the picture because is not so much easy to think of something different, but a t the same time that caught the attention of people. After, we saw a movie about Sir Ken Robinson and talked about finding your element. What is finding your element? Finding your element is finding your personal fulfillment .To find your element first you need to find your talent, and you have a natural capacity of doing it. Also, it has to be your passion something you enjoy doing it that is the key of success. When you have not found your element you don’t enjoy the things you do. Being good at something is not a good reason to do it. Wealth is not a guarantee of fulfillment. “Finding your passion can change everything”. Finally, I post this pictures that are related with today’s discussion.

Week 3 Monday's class
In today’s class we did an exercise we picked one simple photo and we had to change the meaning. It was a difficult exercise because we had trouble coming up with adjectives and phrases. We team up and start coming with ideas. There were some teams that made us laugh. I remembered this picture it was a tree root that look like a hand and there was this phrase “Waiting for prince charming” .Also this picture about a polar bear that said “Got Lasik”. At the end we came up with our adjectives and phrase some were good and some not too good. I learned that is easy to come up with a lot of ideas, but not so easy to come up with a great idea that works. Also we learned to expand more our vocabulary using more adjectives to explain our ideas. For example, if you have an idea and it’s really good but if you can’t explain it, it’s like if you don’t have anything.
Adjectives

Week 2 Wednesday's class
In Today’s class we watched a movie and it was called Akira Kurosawa Dreams. It was a series of dreams and all were very interesting. The first one was called Foxes weeding; I really don’t get this dream at all. It was about this little boy watching those people playing instruments and then they saw him and he ran out. Then he came back to his house and his mother said to him that he has to kill himself and his mom said to him to ask for forgiveness. The little boy asked her where I can find them and she said under the rainbow and after he saw the rainbow. This dream was confusing at least for me. Well I really liked this dream because it was a utopian dream. All started when he brings something to his sister and he asked her that he saw 6 girls and there only five. Then he saw this girl and he followed her to this amazing place. Then this people appeared to him and he told them that he cried when the trees were cut off. Then by a miracle those peaches trees appear and the little boy was happy. There were some interesting dreams that have strong messages. There was the dream of the tunnel and this dream portray suffering because a lot of soldiers died because of war and this scene where this soldier said to the commander that he is parents were waiting for him. This dream showed how many soldiers died because of war and how many parents still waiting for their sons and daughters to come home. Another dream was the one called Mount Fuji in Red this dream had a powerful message. Basically what this dream tries to communicate is that many people are dying because Radio activity. Also, it showed what radio activity causes in people like, cancer and not be able to reproduce. Another dream a found quite interesting was the weeping Demon talked about how missiles and bombs destroy the earth ceaseless. Also, the big Dandelions symbolize mutations and how many animals, flowers, and died because of the missiles and bombs. The last dream was Villages of the watermills expressed about how we don’t appreciate nature and we are losing it. How we change firewood for fuel. Also how man invents things that make people unhappy. Overall it was a succinct movie and I learn a lot.

Week 2 Monday's class
In Today’s class we changed places accordant by our month of birth. This exercise was to help each other to get organize .It was an interesting exercise because we found people from our same month of birth. I noticed that there were more people born in October and in May. Also, There were few people born in December was and in November. In today’s lecture we talked about Mind Mapping /Idea Mapping. Idea Mapping we learned that is a way of brain storming and it’s a graphing way of exploring ideas. In brain storming you let your ideas flow and never analyze anything. An example that Mr. Moss gave us about brainstorming was when picking baby names just let names come out. Brain storming vs. Being Analytical? In brainstorming you get your ideas out there freely as in being analytical you start evaluating critically whether you like it or not. What Map mapping helps you on? Well I learn that it helps you to get fresh ideas and not worry about analyzing. How one opens one mind? Well, first you have to be interest it and have to appeal to you. What are the barriers to an open mind? Well, some barriers could be fear, judgments, bad experiences etc…How to come with ideas? Give yourself time and space. Also try to do a Mind Mapping to come with ideas. A Mind Mapping is composing of things like incubation that’s your brainstorming; Exploration that’s when you try your ideas. Analyze that’s when you review; draw, or sketch. Finally, you Act make a decision. Things that can help you organize ideas are key words, drawings, colors, images, symbols etc… Finally we make a Mind Mapping and it was quite interesting because we let our ideas flow and also we have an opportunity to see what other people’s ideas were.
Here I put two quotes that were related with today’s topic. I hope you like them!!!

Week 1 ART 220 Wednesday class
Today’s class was actually quite interesting .We looked at concept, time, perception, representation, and communicating. Concept is an idea made up, not real. Concept or an idea it’s related with time. We have the concept of time that a day is compose of 24 hrs. Time was an invention but why we need time? I heard a very interesting answer it’s a sense of man to make order. We need time to put order in our daily life to do certain things at certain times. Time constantly changes but time it’s kind of a pattern it goes in a linear way. Linear time it moves to one place continuously to another. For example, time moves from second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year, and so on. Perception it’s the process of changing how you see things differently. The exercise of the apple is for us to see how it changes and what we see different about it. Also, today in class we experienced the process of changing because we didn’t sit with the same person, the same chair, the same place than last class. Also, how you perceive things is not the same as other person might perceive them. Representation is the study of meanings and symbols, and communication of ideas. We learned a term called Iconography that has to be with symbolism, meaning, logo, depicts or representation. For example, a drawing is a representation or a photograph is not real is a depiction which communicate meaning. Communicate which is the message that you want people to get .We learned that there are different types of communication such as story telling reading pictures, and colors. Colors communicate things for example, red, yellow are associated with food. Also, pictures communicate things through colors and tell stories .For example, you can perceive mood such as sadness or happiness. One last example from reading a picture that tell a story was the picture of the two rich women and the homeless it depicts that the rich women didn’t care about people in need.

ART 220 CONCEPT DEVELOPNENT week 1
Today it was the first day of class and we went over the syllabus. We answered two questions what we think we might do in the class? And what we might learn? .It was a good experience because we start getting ideas, even thought we didn’t have any idea of what the class it was going to be. We learn to communicate and express our thoughts. We heard all the answers from different people and everyone had their own ideas about what the class might be, but at the end all the answers related somehow. For example, someone said we will learn to think outside the box, learn to observe, to do brain storming to get new ideas for projects, looking to art and places, to communicate, to approach different materials. We use our imagination in order to figure out what the class was going to be like. We learn to be aware of things that we might never look at, for example the exercise of the apple. How many times we have seen an apple and never take the time to observe it, feel the texture, smell it, look at colors, or taste it. I think what we learn made a difference in all of us because now we will be more aware about our surrounding. The skills I got from this particular class were to observe more at things and communicate with other people, share thoughts and ideas with others, and develop more the use of our imagination. We experienced to be people with an open mind, express our thoughts and get knowledge about what other people think and learn to observe everything.
